Taste = Memory

“This is not a cooking book, but a guide to taste. The sensation of taste grows when a dish is described well and thus better understood”, thus the opening sentence of a special and unique book that chef Erik van Loo, together with the photography of Marjolein Boonstra and Robbert So Kiem Hwat and the texts of Nicole Willemse, published in December 2010 in a high-quality, but strictly limited edition.

With a private party in restaurant Parkheuvel in Rotterdam the book Taste = Memory was presented to a selected group of people. A small work of art that took three years of work. The title brings back memories to the world famous book The Taste of my Memory by Tessa Kiros, but also its contents can be compared with the high level of the work of Kiros.

In the book Erik tells in a catchy and compelling way about his native soil and the origin of his passion for the art of cooking, about the human senses and his search for taste. It is not a cooking book, although Erik introduces and worldwide unique scheme of sauces in it and some of his signature dishes including his famous meatballs, but a book about passion and craftsmanship and as such is a favorite on our reading table.

As a chef Erik van Loo already gathered five Michelin-stars (his current restaurant holds two Michelin-stars) and his talent makes up a harmonious pair with the wonderful images and artful and high-quality design of the book. For this first print in a limited edition of 1500 copies this special design is exclusive and Erik personally signed each copy.

For many years already Possen Made-to-Fit Fashion dresses the complete Parkheuvel-staff and based on this steady partnership we managed to get a hold of a 100 copies of Taste = Memory. A must have for the devotees to craftsmanship, passion and the absolute top in good food. We still have a few copies available. Contact us now (€ 89/piece as long as stock lasts).
