Composition
Blends of cotton and polyester are easy to iron, but likely less comfortable. The best cotton is originated from Egypt and the Sea Islands and is to a large extent available in our collection.

The quality of cotton depends on:

• the fiber length: the longer, the better;
• the shape of the fiber: the rounder, the stronger, the more shining and therefore the better the quality.

Colors and designs
Primarily white is the color with status. Wearing a spotless white shirt should provide the person with a name and status (because you are wearing a clean shirt every day). The color is also associated with executives, bankers and lawyers. However, Italy recognizes a different protocol: blue is to be worn to work and white is to be used in formal ceremonies. Moreover, wide stripes are to be dressed by juniors, while narrow stripes are for seniors. Finally, traditionally blocks are casual. Only since several years blocks can be worn formally as well.

Collars

• Button-down: the informal collar. Originated from the Brooks Brothers in the USA for playing Polo and preventing the collar to blow up.
• Classic or straight point: as timeless as successful. Since double knotted ties do not fit properly these are usually used with a light-colored tie and small knot. For the evening dress it is nevertheless preferred over the wing collar.
• Wide spread or semi cut away: extremely suitable to combine with a sizeable knot.
• Full cut away: Italians go even further and cut the collar away to the back.
• Tab: the collar is tricky to close due to the undersized knot and is therefore to be worn open. Shirts with this type of collar are preferably used with blazers and tweeds.

Cuffs

• Single cuffs: easy to use, whereby you have several options. For example, the cuffs put vertically for a sporty look or two cuffs to create more flexibility in wearing your shirt.
• Double cuffs: actually the proper cuffs for a Made-to-Measure shirt. Traditionally it is also a symbol of wealth since more fabric is required and cuff links need to be acquired.
