The “Chalet” is by far the most famous product of Swiss architecture. The wooden dwellings with sloping roof and overhanging eaves, are as much a part of the Swiss landscape as the Alps themselves. The single storey bunkers traditionally served as seasonal farms for dairy cattle in the summer months, and haven’t changed much since these humble beginnings.
But high up on a mountain pass in the Bernese Oberland, a new type of seasonal home has emerged as a stark contrast to the timber heavy squats the country is so famed for. With its back turned to the harsh northerly winds, this contemporary take on the log cabin straddles the vistas to the south via a huge five meter glass pane that invites the landscape to fill its vast, open plan spaces.
There’s not much wrong with the traditional models, but this one matches our Tweed tailor-made jackets of luxurious Dormeuil Donegal best.

Burgundian tradition meets refreshing modernism at the celebrated designhotel La Bergère in the old city of Maastricht.
Therefore is seems almost logic that La Bergère chose the perfect mix of expertise and innovation of Possen Made-to-Fit Fashion to dress the complete staff with nice tailor-made shirts and blouses. A perfect match with the high quality level of the hotel and a perfect match with the stylish and modern image of La Bergère.
All in style with the seasonal theme of La Bergère the ladies and gentlemen of the staff can be admired in cut-to-the-bone shirts and blouses of the deepest black finished with challenging white contrast collars and cuffs.
And if in the near future you book La Bergère for a well-deserved weekend in wonderful Maastricht (La Bergère), why not also straight away book your Possen fashion consultant via tailor@possen.com to order your new tailor-made suit and shirt in the calmness of your hotelroom or the relaxed atmosphere of the sophisticated loungebar of the hotel?
And a couple of weeks later we simply deliver your order at your home address or office address.

For the past decade we at Possen have been wondering about this strange thing called Casual Friday. Do we really want to see our colleagues from accounting in their weekend jeans and worn out sneakers? We don't think so.
The nice thing about a business outfit is that it suits you for what you are all about: doing business. And why ruin a perfect tailor-made suit by loosing the tie? And besides that, only Al Pacino in Scarface and Bill Gates get away without a tie (the Cuban drugdealer and the nerd).
The knot you use for your tie should be appropriate to the material of the tie and the occasion to which you will wear the tie. A tie is only effective if it is tied correctly. No one looks spiffy with an ill-knotted neck tie. In some social circles, correctly tying a neck tie speaks of the status and breeding of a person.
And just for fun, below a list of all the tie knots that we know. Don't hesitate to ask our fashion consultants to show you how to tie them. They should know ...
- The Four-in-Hand
- The Double-Simple (Pratt or Shelby knot)
- The Full or Double Windsor
- The Half-Windsor
- The Small Knot
- The Cross Knot

Enough said and definitely tasted from these divine bubbles.
But we think this wisecrack of Dom Perignon is funny enough to mention here.
A handmade guitar case in softpink croco. With six delicious bottles of Dom Perignon Rosé and a few superfluous cristal glasses (bottle number 7 would have fitted there).
Made-to-order and of course unaffordable. How delicious!

On March 09 and 10, 2007 in the RAI conference centre of Amsterdam the National Carreer Event was organized.
The largest carreer event in The Netherlands for students and graduates with the best employers presenting themselves. Every year the event attracts many thousands of visitors.
In a wonderful partnership with the successful headhunter and secondment agency i4talent, Possen Made-to-Fit Fashion during the 2-day event measured many new employees of the company for a tailor-made suit.
A successful event for i4talent that with the partnership with Possen Made-to-Fit Fashion clearly showed to the public to choose for quality, innovation and service.

For years now, the London Underground have been running their underground art programme 'Platform For Art' in order to promote London's eclectic art scene and to entertain and enlighten commuters on the cities bustling underground.
Last week some of our Possen tailors visited old friends on Savile Row and took the time to travel to Gloucester Road Tube station. It has been graced with the imaginative and beautiful work of artist Chiho Aoshima , who's digital prints on vinyl cover all 17 arches of the underground station.
"City Glow, Mountain Whisper", is on display until the end of the month and is Aoshima's first solo exhibition. The inspiring landscape she has created sees the scene graduate from day to night and from urban to rural. With such a rich visual focal point to enjoy whilst traveling, one can almost enjoy the daily commute.
We thought it is good to save the artwork here, so the cityplanners of Amsterdam someday might be inspired to take their own new North-South subway to a higher level.

In February 2007 Possen Made-to-Fashion got the wonderful opportunity to enter into a special partnership with Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH ("DFS").
DFS is the German air navigation service provider with 5,200 employees and ensures the safe and punctual handling of flights. From special control centres in Langen, Bremen, Karlsruhe and Munich as well as from the control towers of 17 international airports in Germany and the EUROCONTROL Centre in Maastricht, the DFS staff coordinates over 9,000 aircraft movements in German airspace every day, and more than 3.1 million movements every year. Drawing on more than 50 years of experience in air navigation, DFS advises organisations such as airlines from all over the world on air traffic management matters.
To promote their services, DFS is one of the largest participants of the Annual Conference on Air Traffic Control. On February 13th and 14th the 2007 conference was held in the MECC Conference Centre in Maastricht.
In line with their slogan 'tailormade DFS services' and as a special gift to their clients and partners from all over the world, DFS asked the tailors of Possen Made-to-Fit Fashion to be present in the spectacular DFS stand at the fair and to measure and consult for luxurious tailormade shirts that were handed out as DFS gifts!
During the 2-day conference, the tailors of Possen Made-to-Fit Fashion measured and consulted almost 200 ( ! ) professionals from the Air Traffic Control industry.
These ladies and gentlemen travelled to Maastricht from all over the world and it was a wonderful experience to give advice on tailormade shirts to people from countries such as New Zealand, Thailand, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Ukraine, USA, Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman. It was great to learn that high quality made-to-measure products and the dedicated Possen service was appreciated by all and eliminates any cultural difference or language barriers.
Also, Possen Made-to-Fit Fashion is proud to know that our tailormade products are truly worn and appreciated globally!

For the ultimate cashmere lovers, the tailors of Possen Made-to-Fit Fashion discovered the new frontier: baby cashmere by Loro Piana!
In the mountainous regions of Inner Mongolia, our most favourite weaver Loro Piana discovered baby cashmere: a rare and precious fibre exclusively obtained from the underfleece of the Hyrcus goat kid. It is gathered by means of a delicate and completely harmless procedure done only once in a goat’s life, when it is between three and twelve months old.
Loro Piana Baby Cashmere is available via Possen Made-to-Fit Fashion in extremely limited quantities: one kid produces barely 80 grams of the softest undefleece which, once the coarser outer fibres have been discarded, results in just 30-40 grams of useable fibre and it takes the underfleece of 19 kids to make just one pullover.
What we think of this as cashmere-lovers? As long as this wonderful product is gathered in a responsible manner and as long as the shepherds can guarantee that their herds live in the proper natural way on the steppes of Inner Mongolia, we just can't get enough!

In the course of next week, we will surprise ten of our clients with a wonderful culinary gift!
We have raffled ten gift cheques for a complete and luxurious Parkheuvel-arrangement amongst our clients that placed an order with Possen Fashion during the lasts months of 2006.
This fine arrangement consists of a complete gastronomical evening for two in the wonderful Michelin-starred restaurant Parkheuvel situated on the banks of the Maas-river right at the foot of the Euromast ( the Parkheuvel website).
The team of patron-cuisinier Erik van Loo hosts our winners at arrival with an apperitif in the completely renewed magnificent interior with international flair. Next you will be seated at your table for a delicious five course dinner with wonderful accompanying fine wines served by sommelier Bob Jurjens. There is a delightful mocha to close your evening and of course the valet parking will make sure your car is waiting for you right at the door.
A delicious culinary night out as an early herald for a wonderful springtime.
The winners of the culinary arrangement will receive a personal message. Additionally, we also have a small present for all our clients, but more about that in our next emailing ...

It is time to rehabilitate the black sheep ...
There is a special fabric in our collection that we would like to give some extra attention; the so-called Pecora Nera fabrics, a range of Loro Piana’s rare fabrics made using New Zealand merino wool coming exclusively from the fleeces of dark coloured sheep.
These extraordinary animals are the result of 20 years of careful selection by a New Zealand breeder, who has restored the dignity and importance of dark sheep by discovering that this was the original color of the sheep bred in the past.
White sheep are in fact the result of long-term man made selection after discovering that it was possible to dye white wool in a broader range of colors. However, the dark color remained as a recessive or secondary genetic characteristic of some white sheep, which is why the flocks occasionally give birth to a black lamb whose wool is not used. This is the origin of the use of the term “a black sheep” to describe a negative member of a group.
But the New Zealand breeder focused on dark sheep, only crossing specimens endowed with this genetic heritage, rediscovering all of their original characteristics, such as the extraordinarily thick fleeces that give rise to a bright and highly resistant wool, whose natural color ranges from various shades of mixed browns to black.
Another aspect is worth underlining: the wool of black sheep is totally natural and not dyed and therefore it is not affected by chemical agents.
It's special and we gladly present it to you ...

It seems that also for the ultimate waterfront living China is the place to be.
Atkin's Architecture Group from Dubai, famous for their gigantic and extravagant building designs, recently won the first prize award for an international design competition with this stunning entry.
Set in a spectacular water filled quarry in Songjiang, China, the 400 bed resort hotel is uniquely constructed within the natural elements of the quarry. Underwater public areas and guest rooms add to the uniqueness, but the resort also boasts cafes, restaurants and sporting facilities.
The top level runs with the aquatic theme by housing a luxurious swimming pool and an extreme sports center for activities such as rock climbing and bungee jumping which will be cantilevered over the quarry and accessed by special lifts from the water.
With a stunning visual presentation as shown here, it's no wonder this project took home the first prize. This is a fine example of an ultra modern facility co-existing amongst its natural environment.
If this project ever will turn into reality, you can surely meet the travelling tailors and fashion consultants of Possen Fashion in the hotel lobby for a fine Italian cashmere made-to-measure suit. See you there.
