Kreidler Revisited

February 16, 2009 - Cool stuff

How vintage can one get?!

We think this fantastic machine gets close to ultimate vintage. A Kreidler Van Veen 50GP that was shown to the public in 2007 at the Moto Arte Design in Milano as one if the 75 icons in the history of motorcycles.

Back in the eighties we fund a Kreidler just like this in the old neighbours barn under a thick layer of dust, roofing tiles, jute bags and other mess and after months of tinkering and polishing we managed to get it started again.

A quality machine, fantastic design and in full speed on small country roads the ultimate feeling of freedom.

For more nice pictures of vintage motorcycles, go to the website and blog of the Australian designer Chris Hunter, a true devotee.

Silverstris Speedboat

February 10, 2009 - Cool stuff

We are not the biggest fan of Spyker cars. To our taste a bit too small, too much Batman and too much a toy for the racetracks. But aesthetically interesting and of course Dutch Design!

If you're fortunate enough to have a garage full of sports cars your next purchase must be a Silverstris Speedboat - the Spyker of the water, because originating from the Spyker-stables.

The devastatingly handsome 23-foot vessel that features all sorts of high tech gadgets and stylistic points that you expect from a superior sports car, from remote control hatched compartments to a sleek leather interior.

And a ferocious motor to be reckoned with. It's enough to make James Bond proud.

To promote their new nail polish, Rimmel literally tried to stop young women in their tracks by placing large eye catching sculptures outside nail polish retailers on high streets.

Clever, funny, and most important, successful.

What financial crisis!?

Perhaps you already stumbled on this one ... it circulates all continents this week.

Not a bad joke to kick-off a relaxing weekend and a fine contradiction to the dramatic headlines of the past weeks.

Thinking Lingerie

September 27, 2008 - Cool stuff

This week a new book on management popped up in our showroom: 'Thinking Lingerie' by Rob van Vuure. Interesting and funny and thus presented here.

Rob van Vuure, also known as 'magazine doctor', is one of the most successful editors-in-chief of the Netherlands and creative director at Sanoma Publishers.

Fact is that he has been responsible for the successful launch of an extended range of magazines and has won many journalism awards. We praise his entrepeneurial spirit and flow of authentic ideas as it concerns temptation and successful communication through any possible channel, from internet to shopping windows to events.

The point of view of 'Thinking Lingerie' is a manual for a successful magazine ('creative journal creation'), but it is full of ideas how to make a product or service more attractive, more surprising and more fun. And with some imagination these ideas can be applied in any company.

In his book Van Vuure explains in a clear and inspiring way how to seduce you readers (or clients). In more than 80 chapters full of ideas he explains how to make a magazine outstanding. He reveals the secrets of a good cover, the rythm of a magazine, restyling, angles, magazine-DNA and the use of guest-editors-in-chief.

'Thinking Lingerie' can be recommended to everyone involved in communication and offers striking insights for both the professional and the interested reader. It not only reveals the makings of a good magazine, it also gives many ideas for successful communication.

'Thinking Lingerie' is available at your book store and Bol.com for € 22,95. As long as our copies last you get this book as a gift with your new tailormade suit. Contact your Possen fashion consultant today.

Just Another Ball Game

February 9, 2008 - Cool stuff

What do tailormade suits have to do with soccer?

Not a bit if you ask us.

But not only we have a taste for high quality fabrics, cut-to-the-bone tailormade shirts and tailormade suits with a perfect fit, but we are also fond of a fair game of high level soccer.

Even more so if we can rejoice ourselves at the battle in group C at the upcoming European Soccer Championschip. Who says the Dutch team just won't beat Romania, France and Italy?

The European Soccer Championship takes place in Switzerland and Austria from June 7th until June 29th. For those who prefer to present themselves properly during these undoubtedly heated days, Possen Made-to-Fit Fashion has developed an unique offer: 'the ultimate sports jacket'!

Made from beautiful luxurious summer cotton, with patched pockets and half-lined. But more important, in a complete unique look and feel!

Are you an aficionado for the Italian team, then choose the azure cotton, with green/white/red sleevebuttons and ditto lining. The Italian colors stitched on the breast pocket. Or perhaps if you prefer the Spanish eleven, choose the crimson cotton with the golden sleevebuttons and ditto lining. The Spanish flag on the breast pocket. And of course we have bought many lengths of Royal Orange cotton, bags full of red/white/blue buttons and a very special satin tulip lining.

Please contact us via tailor@possen.com or call our travelling tailor service via +31 6 15 095 095 to get your ultimate sports jacket delivered on time.

Skulls & Bones Shoe

Not in our collection - we still prefer the supple handmade Italian version of the House of Borgioli - but they are fun anyhow ...

... 'The Brogue by BarkerBlack'.

Check out the toe detail.

The perfect accessory for the private equity dealmaker ... dressed to kill.

Not just a hammock

December 15, 2006 - Cool stuff

If your desire for a white Christmas gets too big, you probably have booked a room in the famous ICEHOTEL (check out their website). Its situated in Sweden, 200 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle in the small village of Jullasjärvi and its guaranteed freezing cold with a thick layer of fresh snow!

We advice you to stay in style in the ICEHOTEL and bring your own fur hammock, of course a relaxing limited edition by BLESS.

Heralded as one of fashion's most innovative designers, for more than 10 years now, BLESS is a project that presents ideal and artistic values by products to the public.

Under the theme "Fits every style!", BLESS refuses to capitalize on one milieu, constantly investigating the boundaries of style. BLESS slides from fashion to beauty, interior decoration to art exhibition.

Check out the BLESS websitefor their limited editions and points of sale (not yet avaliable in the Netherlands).

Name your Porsche

October 5, 2006 - Cool stuff

We keep searching for cool customization initiatives and found a fun website - Name Your Porsche (www.nameyourporsche.com). You can actually choose any word to put in the original Porsche font onto your car.

You can now give your Porsche an exclusive personal touch. Instead of the type designation, you can have a customised text in the same font placed on your Porsche. Texts can be made for all 911 models - Cayenne - Boxster and Cayman. Your personalised text can be made in the same colours as the type designation, in grey or black, or ‘chrome’ or ‘gold’ if you prefer.

Just imagine having your girlfriend’s or boyfriend’s name on the back instead of Carrera 2, or the name of your dog, cat, horse or prime minister instead of Cayenne? No problem! Any conceivable name can be made to order…

All you need now is a Porsche ...

Talking customization!

September 25, 2006 - Cool stuff

Possen Made-to-Fit Fashion supports customization anytime anywhere ...

Every sneaker company has a customization program out there in one way or another - Nike iD, RBK Custom, Puma Mongolian Barbecue and the new performance customization of Adidas in their flagship stores. Most of these programs are definitely interesting and fun to play around with, but it's in most cases more about making a design statement.

Now we came across Prior2Lever (www.prior2lever.com). They offer the first fully customizable soccer shoe. Adidas already offers customized soccer shoes, where you can even choose a different size for both of your feet, but the footwear is matched-to-order. Prior2Lever does it the Possen-way and goes one step further. The football boot is uniquely designed for each individual player, using selective laser sintering to produce truly custom outsoles and hand crafted custom one-piece leather uppers. Just the way we like it!

The upper is made of exclusively sourced calfskin from Italy which can be manipulated using sophisticated technology to adapt color, appearance and function to the athlete's needs. The outsole is designed using a three dimensional scan of the individual's foot dimensions and unique walking/running style. The bespoke fit of the boot coupled with the hand crafted one-piece upper (negating uncomfortable seams and improving contact with the ball) make for an incredibly light design that preserves energy levels without forsaking protection and comfort.

There is one small problem however ... all this technology and service involved costs money - Prior2Lever shoes cost around 10,000 Euros! But that includes 4 pairs of the boot and changes to the boot if needed! Still it seems like this is clearly targeted at the professional soccer players!

The shoes do look great though!

How to smell perfume?

September 8, 2006 - Cool stuff

The French take their perfume seriously – smelling fabulous is practically a national obsession.

But obviously not only the smelling, also the process of selecting the right perfume is an art. And thus the ultimate perfume smelling boutique was created. Of course this new fragrance boutique is right at home in Paris.

Cult perfumier Frederic Mallee’s perfume workshop makes the
amateur shopper feel like a seasoned perfumier, with wonderful round glass smelling tubes to ‘taste’ the fragrances.

Visitors can observe Mallee at work and take home a bottle of his latest scent. Also check out www.editionsdeparfums.com.

A good reason to get your Possen Fashion tailor-made cashmere jacket our of your closet and finally book that romantic weekend trip to Paris for you and your partner ...

Topless Mini Cooper

May 26, 2006 - Cool stuff

Feel like running around topless without getting arrested?

Then this animated Mini Cooper Cabrio has the answer. This version of the Mini Cooper has been aesthetically enhanced by Sydney artist and illustrator Andrew Georgiou (www.mrgisby.com), who’s collection of home grown, twisted comic characters have made their mark in Australia, U.K and the U.S in recent months.

We like it! Especially since one of our own Possen Fashion company cars is a completely renovated bright orange classic 1978 Mini Cooper stationcar. Of course with a chestnut dashboard and racing seats embroided with our company logo. We use our beautiful orange car for the delivery of our tailormade suits and shirts in the South of the Netherlands and gladly show it to you on one of our visits.

Rug out of 18 Merino Sheep

March 28, 2006 - Cool stuff

Earlier on in this Lifestyle News of Possen Fashion we lectured a little bit about the fine animals that bring us the best wool in the world: Merino Sheep (also see the item below in this list).

But did you ever seen a rug handknitted from the wool of 18 Merino sheep?

We neither.

But we love these fine fine animals, because every season they bring us a wonderful collection of high-quality fabrics from our top weavers.

And a handknitted rug from the wool of 18 Merino sheep ... show it!

A Merino expert pointed out the website www.theseflocks.com to us. And what a wonderful small website this is!

Amongst others it tells about the summer of 2005 when in a small village in Wales, a small flock of Merino sheep was shawn. Each garment in the collection called FLOCKS (first collection of Christien Meindertsma) was produced from the wool of just one of these sheep, continuing until the wool was finished.

And it also shows this wonderful enormous unique rug.

Check out www.theseflocks.com and learn how to shear a Merino sheep, how to spin its wool and how to knit.

Schi Blitz!

February 10, 2006 - Cool stuff

The past decades millions of Europeans learned how to ski. Ski pistes get more spectacular every season. But also more crowded. And since we all look for the challenge to run the highest and most spectacular pistes as fast as possible, it is wise to wear a ski helmet. But of course, as always, in style.

Finally, after years of using ski helmets designed for polar bears and ski jumpers, we now found the address for spectacular ski helmets. This is a must have.

Better be safe than sorry. Check out http://www.indigosnow.de/

Also for the coolest ski gear.

Once in a while our fashion consultants and tailors are challenged when it is about a special request of a client for a tailormade suit.

This time it concernced a very special fabric; a white cotton excellently finished with a luxurious gold thread in a Paisley design. Very disco and glamorous and therefore special enough to show here.

From the available piece of fabric Possen Fashion managed to tailor two cut-to-the-bone suits (with the applicalble embroidery in the inside of the jacket: "Drop it like it's hot!").

One of these tailormade suits can be seen in the window of the exclusive bed store Bed Habits based in the Regulierdwarsstraat in Amsterdam. More information about this exclusive store is available at their website www.bedhabits.nl

Make an appointment with us to see, feel and try the most special and kinky fabrics in our collection!
