A Congolese Dandy

Already on January 25th 2006 here in the Possen Style Lab we observed
a return of the dandy in Florence, Milan, Paris, London, Tokyo, New York and even a growing number of Dutch ones in the wild.
It made us blush and since then we are delighted to serve a growing number of clients with extremely tailored suits, sometimes even of a
double-breasted calibre, on a mostly colourful made-to-measure shirt with an eclectic collar and of course double cuffs.
At such sessions our biggest pleasure comes from the fabulous accessories that we can advice our clients. Handmade one-of-a-kind
shoes from real crocodile leather
hand finished in a daring color, beautiful everlasting
cufflinks handmade for Possen Fashion in the Codis Maya atelier in London, an eccentric walking stick with a brass snake head or mermaid, fine calfskin hazel gloves, wonderful superslim or extremely wide
ties exclusively made for Possen Fashion in Bergamo and of course a flamboyant head in an
extreme match with the rest of the outfit. But always according to the alleged rules of elegance and therefore never in a combination of more than three colors in one outfit.
Something that makes us very happy.
But the dandy never left Africa!
Congelese
sapeurs are men who since the eighties have turned the creation of a true gentleman’s outfit to a religion and who have followers worldwide (unfortunately also many failing American
pimp rapper).
Until August 20th we invite you to the gallery of the Prince Claus Fund at the Herengracht in Amsterdam for the exhibition
Gentleman of Bacongo, a photo exposition about the phenomenon sapeurs, the Congolese dandy.
