Bicycle Aesthetics

We admit. We are dedicated followers of professional cycling.

All winter we look forward to the never-ending Sunday afternoons with the always-heroic spring classics, such as the Tour des Flandres and Paris-Roubaix, were only the best cyclists prevail. And it is no coincidence that our trips to our fabric weavers in the North of Italy, the Firenze fashion fair and our tailors in Rome, Napoli and Torino coincide with the Giro d’Italia. And Le Tour de France of course dominates July.

Here we would like to share with you the aesthetics of professional cycling. More specifically, each bike in Le Tour de France can be considered a piece of art. They are all unique pieces, customized to their rider, not only technical but more and more also from a styling perspective.

The brand Madone brings us the most exquisitely engineered bicycle ever made. Of course every Madone is custom-made and this is the bike preferred by most professional riders. Check out the online configurator of Madone to perfect your custom dream bike.

Lance Armstrong is one if the biggest fans of the Madone bike and to honour this great rider, Bono of U2 approached both artist Damien Hirst and Madone to design the ultimate bicycle for Lance Armstrong.

Hirst customized the bike with a gorgeous array of real butterflies from the frame down to the Bontrager rims, which also bear a repeating pattern of the willowy creatures. Eschewing the traditional LIVESTRONG yellow in favour of bright shocking pink logos all around, Hirst brings even more attention to the cause in a colour scheme that can be easily read at nearly any distance (or speed).

A fantastic bicycle and we want one!
